My Mostly Harmless Musings

Public Service Announcement

If you are so inclined, check out my short story "Mirror, Mirror" in Tales From Elsewhere. I co-wrote this bit of fiction with Susanne Shay.

The story is a traditional tale of girl meets boy, girl becomes boy and goes WTF (I'm sure this is traditional somewhere... right?)

In other writing news: I'm sprucing up my novel for an agent.I am also beginning work on its sequel.

If you would like to read more of my stuff (highly encouraged and thoroughly endorsed by me), please check out my bibliography. There's plenty of fiction, poetry and other miscellanea waiting there just for you.

It's time for a Random Quote
There's many a bestseller that could have been prevented by a good teacher. -Flannery O'Connor

Speaking of bestsellers, The book I enjoyed most this month is The Martian by Andy Weir.
here's my review: Wow --just wow.

Now if you want to talk... or rather discuss books, Open Book is the place to be if you are in the Philadelphia Area. It is operated by the two most literally literate (I've always wanted to say that, just not three times fast!) people I know. Watch the video to learn more about the Open Book project. I also encourage you to like them on facebook. By the way, you can also buy The Martian from them. Just saying.

Now it is time for some of my sillier musings.

You know you want to push my buttons.

Did you know the "close elevator" button in an elevator is (most likely) a placebo button. They are disconnected, but we feel good pushing the button, waiting like good mice for our cheese. Here's an article from You are not so Smart: a Celebration of Delusion about these types of buttons.

Everyone knows I'm all about manners and politeness. Don't laugh! It's true. I am, sometimes, polite. Anyway, this little video is all about Facebook etiquette. There are some real big no-no's in this.

In sad celebrity news: this photo was taken a few years after the release of Revenge of the Sith. Times haven't been good for R2D2. Let's hope the new Star Wars movies will revive his acting career.

Have you ever misheard lyrics to a song? Yes? (But how would you really know?) Well, this is for you.

That's all folks. It's bar time.  You don't have to go home but you can't stay here.

The Cheesehead TARDIS says to stay tuned for more.
