My Mostly Harmless Musings

If you like science baked with fantasy in a fiction soufflĂ© then please check out my latest short story, The Comic Book King and the Warder of the Brain  published in Science Fantasy Magazine. It won’t disappoint.

Here is an early review:
I liked it. Read Daddy's Story. OR ELSE!
In other writing news, I’m polishing off my novel. More news about it, hopefully good, will be coming soon. I'm proud that four members of the writer's group I lead, Words in Progress, went to this year's Philadelphia Writers' Conference.

Before I go, I will leave you with a picture from my recent team up with Seth and John Barrowman (damn you John, no one should not look that good). We saved the world. Just in secret. Otherwise you wouldn't be reading this.

That's it for this post. Stay tuned for more.

My Mostly Harmless Spring Musings

 Heyyyyyyyyyyy, I met the Fonz

I’m from Milwaukee so it was inevitable I’d meet Meet Henry Winkler
The fates have once again brought together (in the same month) Philadelphia Beer Week, Wizard Word Philadelphia Comic Con, and the Philadelphia Writers’ Conference. And that is a good thing, but it does make it a busy month. Whew.

Here is an important warning. Always remember:
What happens at the Writers' Conference stays at the conference (or gets published).
What happens during beer week isn't mentioned ever again.
What happens at a Comic Con is probably on YouTube.

If you have any interest in writing, no matter the genre, and happen to be in the Philadelphia area, then you should stop by Philadelphia Writers’Conference, the PREMIERE writing event in the area. Hands down. Former Governor of Pennsylvania Ed Rendell will be the opening speaker. Workshops range from novel writing to poetry, from short story writing to social media, from here to eternity. There is something for everyone.

If you don’t have an interest in writing but do like fiction or science and would like express your opinions, then stop by the conference and fling them at me. Or stop by just to say hi. Or buy me a beer. It is Beer Week.

Below are a few photos from the Wizard World Comic Con.

Look who's off their leash
I blinked. My mistake
Just to clear up matters, girls do go to Comic-cons. So knock, knock, knock, on that Penny! (Big Bang Theory reference for my non-geek friends) Here are the Ladies of Comic-Con 2013.

My Favorite Lady Geek: BatGwen

Here are a couple of books I’ve recently read and highly recommend. Gun Machine by Warren Ellis and King of Plagues (A Joe Ledger Novel) by John Maberry.

If you haven’t read any of the Joe Ledger series, you are in for a treat. Start with the vol. 1 Patient Zero (clue: zombies).

In other news I found interesting and couldn't resist sharing: The Japanese government was forced to deny the existence of ghosts.

I will end these musings with a very sad movie. It brought me to tears.
